Potting

Example of Potting Applications for Electronics
Potting electronic components with 1K or 2K potting compounds serves to protect the components from environmental influences such as heat, dust, aggressive media, or vibrations and other mechanical stresses. The process can be significantly simplified by using metering and mixing systems.
Automated metering and mixing of casting resins ensures a consistently correct mixing ratio, reliable mixing, and reproducible quantities. Weighing and mixing by hand are no longer necessary.
Metering systems for various potting compounds
We offer metering systems for potting components with polyurethane, epoxy resin, or silicone. Both materials with and without fillers can be processed. Material preparation is carried out, for example, using stirrers, heating, or vacuum degassing.
Shot size and metering speed are adjustable, allowing a dosing system to be used for components of different sizes. Potting can be done manually or automated, for example, with portal systems or robots.
In addition to electronics potting, the systems are also suitable for edge potting or the production of parts from 2K casting plastics.
Vacuum Potting
For demanding components, such as coils or parts with complex geometry, it is possible to pot components under vacuum.
In this case, the potting process takes place in a vacuum chamber. A suitably designed dosing system prepares the potting compound in such a way that foaming of the material in the vacuum is prevented. This is achieved through vacuum containers that remove trapped air from the medium under negative pressure, supported by the use of stirrers.
