Potting

2C metering technology - applications

Potting

The encapsulation of electronic components with 1- or 2-part potting compounds can be significantly simplified by using dosing systems. In addition to electronic encapsulation, these systems are also suitable for edge sealing or the production of parts from two part casting plastics.

Automated dosing of the casting resins ensures a consistently correct mixing ratio, reliable mixing, and reproducible quantities. Weighing and mixing by hand are no longer necessary.

We offer dosing systems for encapsulating components with polyurethane, epoxy resin, or silicone. We can process materials with or without fillers. Material preparation is carried out using methods such as stirring, heating, or vacuum degassing.

Shot size and dosing speed are adjustable, allowing a dosing system to be used for components of different sizes. Encapsulation can be done either manually or automatically, for instance, using portal systems or robots.

Vacuum potting

For demanding components, such as coils or parts with complex geometry, there's the option to encapsulate them under vacuum.

This involves the encapsulation process taking place in a vacuum chamber. A dosing system designed for this purpose prepares the potting compound in such a way that foaming of the material is prevented in the vacuum. This is achieved by vacuum vessels that remove entrapped air from the medium under negative pressure. Stirrers further assist in this process.

Benefits of dosing systems for encapsulation

  • clean and safe operation
  • efficiency enhancement
  • consistent mixing ratio
  • reproducible shot sizes
  • possibility of automation
